  One question asked all the time  when doing a kitchen cabinet renovation is, "What's better granite or quartz" when I break  this question down about care and maintenance people think twice. But don't get me wrong. I do sell granite. 

  Like other hard surface counter top materials, quartz is non-porous so it resists staining much better than granite, marble and concrete. It stands up to juice, oil, wine, tomato, coffee and other sources of stains in the kitchen. Because it is non-porous it will not harbor bacteria or viruses.

 Quartz is a cleaner, safer surface, making it easy to sustain and looking like new for years to come. Just follow a simple cleaning routine for long-lasting enjoyment. 

Daily Cleaning Routine - - For a silestone countertop with a polished finish, we recommend you use a mild household cleaner, such as Formula 409®, Fantastik®, Lysol® or Windex®. In case of stubborn spills or stains, soak the area for up to 10 minutes with one of the above cleaners and vigorously wipe away with a Scotch Brite® pad.
Silestone Leather MD does show daily living more frequently and therefore requires more daily maintenance than other Silestone Quartz products. For your daily cleaning routine we recommend mild soap and water and ‘Leather Plus’ – see in Care & Cleaning product’ section of this web site.


CAUTION: The following will harm a quartz countertop Drano®, Liquid Plummer®, oven cleaners and floor strippers. Do NOT use these or any other harsh chemicals on your silestone countertop surfaces.

At Kitchen Refacers can give you, a price quoted on the phone provided we have accurate hand written sketches. The only way to get an accurate quote is to have us get dimensions from you. We can come out to your house, measure your kitchens space, and include all the work necessary. Plumbing fee Remember This Granite is a porous rock that can get stained over time. Its igneous nature allows for veins that can be penetrated by water particles. Therefore, adding a sealant material is important to prevent counter tops from becoming damaged. A yearly maintenance should be followed. The unique veining patterns of granite can also influence the cost of each individual slab. The various patterns and designs available will vary the edging, finish, and cost. Select from various shades of white, blue, red, and black, in addition to patterns of marble, solid and specks. Quartz Countertops Although made from one of earth’s hardest minerals, quartz counter tops are engineered in a factory, unlike natural stone slabs, which are mined. The primary ingredient is ground quartz, which is combined with polyester resins to bind it, and pigments to give it colour. The appearance of the finished engineered stone is rich and luxurious. The resins, help make the quartz counter tops stain and scratch-resistant, as well as non-porous. Unlike marble and granite, quartz doesn’t need to be resealed on an annual schedule. Manufacturing advances have given quartz patterned multi-hued slabs that are now hard to distinguish from natural materials like granite and marble. The quality or engineered quartz is gaining more popularity than granite. It’s better than granite when it comes to the strength of the materials, impact resistance, low maintenance, non porousness, and work ability of the material.
