Cabinet Refinishing vs Painting vs Refacing
A lot of my customers call me feeling confused about cabinet painting, cabinet refinishing, and cabinet refacing, and honestly, I understand why. Social media often makes it sound like painting is always the fastest, cheapest, and best solution for an outdated kitchen. While painting can work in certain situations, it isn’t always the smartest long-term investment.
Even with a fresh coat of paint, an outdated door style can still look dated, and over time, painted cabinets — especially when not done professionally — tend to show wear much sooner on edges, doors, and high-use areas. That’s why painting alone isn’t always the right answer for every kitchen.
When I meet with homeowners, I take the time to walk through all the available options so you can make an informed decision. Refinishing restores your existing cabinet surfaces using professional spray coatings designed for long-term durability, giving your kitchen a like-new finish while keeping the current layout. Painting is primarily a cosmetic colour change and, when done improperly, may not hold up over time. Refacing replaces the cabinet doors and drawer fronts while keeping the cabinet boxes, making it a larger investment but allowing for a complete style change. Full replacement involves removing the entire kitchen and starting from scratch, which is the most expensive and disruptive option.
Because we offer all of these services, there’s no pressure to push you toward something your kitchen doesn’t actually need. My goal is simple: to help you choose the right solution for your kitchen, your budget, and your long-term plans — not just the quickest fix.

Robert helped us to transform our kitchen. He provided us a quote to reface the bottom kitchen cupboards, add a new drawer bank with soft close drawers only, move the dishwasher, added a cooking sheet cupboard. He replaced the upper cabinets to the ceiling, added a flat panel to the back of the dishwasher, and added a microwave shelf.
Throughout the process,
Robert would listen to our ideas and provide his suggestions
on how to maximize the space we were working with. His ideas were excellent. The changes to the kitchen provided us with more storage space within the same footprint. Moving the dishwasher made the kitchen function better.
Robert is meticulous and pays attention to details
which shows in the quality of his work. He was very neat and careful as he worked in our kitchen. His price was very reasonable.

Robert refaced the old cupboards in my condo kitchen in December 2016. They are still looking great and working beautifully. He custom designed the peninsula which contains a lazy Susan, three large pot drawers and a bookcase and wine rack as an addition to the original kitchen. Great workmanship. In my condo bathroom he built a custom vanity with slide out shelf in the cupboard.
In my previous house Robert had added a custom frame for a double oven and retrofitted many slide outs which were very convenient.
Thank you for all the great work!

Rob really helped me navigate the entire process of remodelling my kitchen. He suggested things for me to consider during our initial consultation which helped me immensely and they had high impact on the overall efficiency and storage of my new kitchen. He acted like a project manager which is what I needed as I never had completed a project like this before. His communication from start to finish was excellent and we worked as a team to get the job done. I’m very pleased with the transformation of my kitchen.
